What is the best black metal for a men’s wedding band?

My fiance wants a simple wedding band, but has a few guidelines:
-must extremely hard, scratch resistant, and heavy
-color must be black

Now, I’ve seen a few online, some say titanium, some tungsten, but I would like to know which is the best, and also will the black color simply scratch off? We need something that I can trust will last and will not get damaged from normal wear and tear.

My husband got a black tungsten ring from http://www.larsonjewelers.com/ when we got married. We looked at both titanium and tungsten before we got married. Titanium is much lighter than tungsten, hold the titanium ring was like holding a paperclip.

We’ve been married for a few years now and he’s a marine so he’s been pretty rough on the ring. It still has not gotten a single scratch. It’s pretty heavy too. My white gold wedding band is much lighter but he wears a size 13 and I wear a size 6 :) I would recommend tungsten.
